Chapter 19
Welcome Back, Sven!

Back on Arus, Lance, Pidge and Hunk approached Keith in the medical infirmary, and began the tough task of breaking the news to him about Allura's abduction.  They could well imagine what his reaction would be...

"WHAT?  Lotor did WHAT?!?"

Keith was shouting angrily at the somber-looking group.   "What happened to the Castle's security system?  How did Lotor get in the Castle without being detected in the first place?"  He was now sitting up in his hospital bed, staring straight at the bewildered young men.

No one said a word.  Keith shouted again, "Don't just stand there and stare at me!  I want an explanation, and I want it now!"

The three Voltron pilots looked at each other.  It was Pidge who spoke first, sighing heavily before he began...  "We're not completely sure, but I think Lotor was cloaked.  That would allow him to walk around undetected anywhere in the Castle."

"Just calm down, Keith," Hunk soothed.  "It'll be alright.  We'll find her...somehow."

"Oh, that's just great, guys!"  Shouted Keith, throwing his arms up in the air, and slamming them down on his bed, fists clenched.  "So, let me get this straight!  I risked my life to go back in time, to save Allura from certain death, only for you three to allow her to be captured by Lotor!  Let me know when I'm suppose to CALM DOWN!!"

His index finger was pointing straight at Lance now.... "YOU were supposed to be in charge!  Where in galaxy were you when this happened?  I told you to keep an eye on her!"

"Keith, relax.  We'll find her."  Lance said, scratching his head.

Keith huffed.  "We've got to find her!"

"Sven should be here within the hour.  He can help us locate her."  Pidge added.

"Yeah, well he can fly one of the two lions down.  But we still need another pilot."  Hunk said.  "What do we do now?"

Keith spoke up.  "I have to get out of here!  That's what we do now!"

"You can't, Keith!  You've just been through major surgery!  You can't just waltz out of here like this!  You could get hurt again."  Lance protected, stepping forward to firmly state this point.  "Next time, Lotor may put you out of commission, permanently!"

"Look, I'm fine!  Someone needs to fly Black Lion.  There's no choice here, Lance.  You can't take on Lotor without Voltron.  And you need all five lions for that!"  Keith said back, pushing the issue.  "I have to go now!  There's no choice!"

Lance took a long breath in, then slowly exhaled.  He paused for a time and said nothing.

Keith looked at him.  "You know I'm right about this, Lance."  He said.

Lance looked up and smiled at Keith.  "I'll bet you've been waiting all your life to hear me say the next sentence, haven't you?"  He grinned.

"What sentence?"  Keith asked with a smirk on his face.

"The one that goes 'Keith, this is foolish!  What you plan on doing is completely reckless' Ya-dah, ya-dah, ya-dah."  Lance finished.  "There.  Are you happy now?  I said it!  Didn't I sound like a true military man?"

Keith smiled.  "Yeah, but I'm also glad you're my friend."

Lance smiled back.  "Hey, if you're waiting for tears to go with this sappy moment...keep waiting!"

"As if!"  Pidge said.  "I don't think you even have any tear ducks, Lance!"

"Oh, I've got them.  I just save them for special occasions only."  Lance winked.

"Listen, I hate to break this up, but we've got to get me out of here!  Times wasting, and we've got to go after the Princess!"  Keith said on a more serious note.  "Before the trail gets cold!"

"Where are we going?"  A thick Norwegian voice said from behind them.  Everyone turned quickly around.  The originator of the voice was leaning in the open doorway, his feet crossed, one over the other, and his arms crossed in front of his chest.  "Can I come, too?" The accent was unmistakably

"SVEN!"  Keith shouted over toward the door, where the former pilot of the Blue Lion stood, peering into the room.  He was overjoyed to see his old friend once again.

"Sven!  Great to see you!" Lance said with a smile, as he immediately walked over to him and offered a handshake.

Sven entered the room, and returned Lance's gesture.  Then he looked at the rest of the team.  "Well, I'm here.  Romelle sent me out right avay.   Now, wat's dis I hear about Princess Allura being kidnapped?"

"It's true, Sven!  Allura was snatched by Lotor, right from under our noses!"  Pidge replied as he turned to shake Sven's hand too.  "It's good to have you back!"

"I came az quickly az I could.  I tought I wus going to help out for a couple of weeks.  I had no idea I'd be trying to rescue da Princess my first day back!"  Sven said.  "I jist found out az I got in da Castle.  I haven't gotten a chance to send a message to Romelle yet.  She'll be very upset at dis news."

"Sven, I need you to pilot Blue Lion again, old friend."  Keith said, as Sven stepped over to shake his IV wired hand.

"Don't tell me you're tinking you're going to pilot Black Lion, Keit!" Sven said, giving his former commander the 'once over'.  "You look like death, warmt ovar!"

Keith chuckled at Sven's comment, then became serious again.  "I have to.  There's no other choice here, I'm afraid."

"Are you sure you are up to dis, Keit?"  Sven said.  "Just look at you... you're hooked up to IV's and dere's bandages everyvhere.  You really should rest, my friend."

"I've got to go, Sven.  I can't rest now.  Allura needs all of us."  Keith replied.  "Now, someone get Dr. Gorma.  I need to get out of here."

"I'll find him."  Hunk shouted as he trotted off.

Keith was still feeling woozy.  Hopefully it wouldn't show to the good doctor.  He must maintain composure during this operation.  If he loses the Princess again, he wouldn't be able to bear it.

Not this time.
